Terms of Service

The plain-English version of the deal between us. A full consumer Terms of Service follows before public launch.

Beta status

BlackCurrent is in private beta, so it’s still moving fast — expect the occasional rough edge, and features may change as we go. Like any early-stage software, it’s provided as-is, without warranty. The reassuring part: BlackCurrent only ever reads your Tesla data — it never sends commands to your car — so a bug here can’t do anything to the vehicle itself.

Your Tesla account

You use BlackCurrent by authorising our application to receive data from your Tesla account through Tesla’s official partner channel. You can revoke that authorisation at any time from your Tesla account, which immediately stops all data collection. We do not have and cannot obtain your Tesla password.

Your data

We handle your vehicle data according to our privacy page. Short version: encrypted at rest with your key, decrypted only in memory during your active session, never written to disk or logs in plain readable form. You retain full ownership of your data. Closing your account deletes the encrypted blobs we hold for you.

Subscription and payment

Pricing is $7.99 per month, with a 14-day free trial. No tiers. Billing is processed by a regulated payment provider; we do not see or store your card details. Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time from your account settings, effective immediately.

Acceptable use

Use the service for your own personal vehicle data. Don’t attempt to reverse-engineer the platform, bypass security controls, or use automated tooling to scrape other users’ data (you won’t succeed — the architecture prevents it — but we’re saying it anyway). Don’t use the service in any way that violates Tesla’s own terms.

Liability

BlackCurrent is a data-viewing and analytics tool. It does not control your vehicle. Any commands feature shipped in future releases will require explicit per-command confirmation. We are not responsible for decisions you make based on data shown in the app, nor for Tesla outages that cause data gaps.

Changes to these terms

We will email beta users at least 14 days before any material change to these terms.
